ABOUT THIS NOTICE
Applies to: https://renew.impactamplifier.co.za/map/ (the "Map").
Published by: Impact Amplifier, together with the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC (the delivery partner for the Nedbank ReNEW Programme), on behalf of the Nedbank ReNEW Programme, with implementation support from Circular South Africa (CSA).
Effective date: 01 September 2026 · Version 1.0 (see change log at the foot of this notice).
This notice sits alongside, and does not replace:
- the Impact Amplifier Group Privacy Notice (the "Group Privacy Notice"); and
- the Impact Amplifier Platform Terms of Use (the "Group Terms of Use").
Where a topic is dealt with in the Group documents, those documents apply. This notice adds the terms that are specific to the Map — including where the data comes from, what you may and may not do with it, how we research listings, how AI is used, and how you can claim, correct, or query your profile.
DEFINITIONS — PROTECTED PARTIES
In this notice, "Protected Parties" means:
- (a) each entity in the Impact Amplifier Group, namely High Impact Accelerator (Pty) Ltd t/a Impact Amplifier, Impact Amplifier Fund Management (Pty) Ltd (IAFM), Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC (the delivery partner behind the Nedbank ReNEW Programme), Impacts Amplifier Foundation (Nigeria), and any related trust or successor-in-title;
- (b) Nedbank Limited and the Nedbank Foundation;
- (c) Circular South Africa (CSA);
- (d) any other programme funder, sponsor, or delivery partner named on the Map or in Nedbank ReNEW communications from time to time; and
- (e) the directors, trustees, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and licensors of each of the above.
Where this notice gives a right, benefit, protection, indemnity, warranty limitation, or liability exclusion to Impact Amplifier, that right, benefit, or protection is also given, on the same terms, to each of the Protected Parties, who may enforce it directly.
AT A GLANCE
Where the data on the Map comes from
Every entry on the Map is built from one or more of these sources, and nothing else:
- Direct submissions from you — through the "Submit your data" and "Update your info" forms, or through a Nedbank ReNEW / Impact Amplifier programme application where you agreed to your profile being featured.
- Appropriate public sources — your own website, CIPC and other official registers, news articles, press releases, conference and programme announcements, and public LinkedIn company pages.
- Programme records shared by partners — the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC, Nedbank, the Nedbank Foundation, Circular South Africa (CSA), and other partners, where sharing is consistent with the consent you originally gave.
AI tools help our team find and structure this information; they do not publish on their own. Uncertain claims are flagged for human review. We do not use closed sources, leaked data, or personal-data brokers, and we do not infer ownership, gender, or other demographic information about founders (see clause 3).
What you may use the Map for
- Discover ventures, investors, intermediaries, and deals in the South African circular-economy ecosystem.
- Contact organisations directly for legitimate business reasons.
- Cite, share, and reference the Map with attribution, for non-commercial research, journalism, and policy work.
What you may not do
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the underlying data.
- Send unsolicited marketing or spam to contacts you found on the Map.
- Re-publish the Map, or a substantial part of it, as your own product.
- Present the data in a misleading way.
Full rules are in clause 2 below.
Inclusion on the Map is not an endorsement or investment recommendation
A listing on the Map does not mean that Impact Amplifier, the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC, IAFM, Nedbank, the Nedbank Foundation, Circular South Africa, or any programme partner has vetted, endorsed, funded, recommended, or done due diligence on that organisation, its founders, or any deal shown next to its name. The Map is an information and discovery tool. It is not investment advice, a fundraising promise, a credit opinion, a rating, or a regulated financial service. You should do your own research and take your own professional advice before entering into any transaction, investment, employment, or partnership based on anything you see here.
1. WHY THE MAP EXISTS (AND WHO IT IS FOR)
The Map is a public directory of the South African circular-economy ecosystem. It is published by Impact Amplifier as part of the Nedbank ReNEW Programme — a partnership between Nedbank, Impact Amplifier and Circular South Africa (CSA) to support youth-led circular-economy ventures and the ecosystem around them.
It is designed for:
- Founders and entrepreneurs — to find peers, partners, investors, buyers, suppliers, incubators, and support programmes.
- Investors and funders — to see live deal flow, active intermediaries, and the shape of the pipeline.
- Programme partners, corporates, government and researchers — to understand who is working in the circular economy in South Africa, and how the ecosystem is evolving.
The Map is free to use and does not require an account for basic browsing. Where you submit or update information, additional terms apply (see clauses 4 and 5).
2. TERMS OF USE FOR THE MAP
2.1 What you may do
- Browse, search, and filter the Map, and the Deals Dashboard, for your own research, business development, investment, journalism, policy, and educational purposes.
- Cite and share individual profiles or aggregated figures, with attribution to "Impact Amplifier — Nedbank ReNEW Ecosystem Map" and a link back to https://renew.impactamplifier.co.za/map/.
- Contact organisations listed on the Map for legitimate, relevant business reasons.
2.2 What you may not do
In addition to the Use Restrictions in the Group Terms of Use (which prohibit, among other things, automated harvesting, misrepresentation, and commercial re-use without our written agreement), you may not:
- Copy the underlying dataset in bulk, or use bots, scrapers, or similar tools to extract listings, contacts, or emails from the Map.
- Use contact details on the Map to send unsolicited marketing, recruitment spam, cold sales sequences, or bulk mail-outs. Direct, relevant, one-to-one outreach between ecosystem actors is welcome; blasting is not.
- Re-publish the Map, or a substantial part of it, as your own product, dataset, or map.
- Present Map data in a way that misleads a reader about a venture, investor, intermediary, or deal.
- Use the Map to unlawfully discriminate against any person or organisation, or to profile founders in a way that would harm them.
- Use the name, logo, brand, or trade marks of any Protected Party (including Impact Amplifier, IAFM, the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC, Nedbank, the Nedbank Foundation, or Circular South Africa) without their prior written consent, or in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or approval that has not been given in writing.
- State or imply that a Protected Party has vetted, endorsed, funded, invested in, insured, or is responsible for any organisation, deal, or activity shown on the Map.
2.3 What the Map is, and is not (no endorsement or investment recommendation)
- The Map is an information and discovery resource. It is not investment advice, a fundraising promise, a due diligence report, a credit opinion, a rating, an endorsement, or a regulated financial service.
- Inclusion of any organisation, founder, investor, intermediary, or deal on the Map does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, verification, warranty, or approval by any Protected Party (including Impact Amplifier, the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC, IAFM, Nedbank, the Nedbank Foundation, Circular South Africa (CSA), or any programme partner, funder, or affiliate).
- Impact Amplifier Fund Management (Pty) Ltd ("IAFM") is separately licensed as a Financial Services Provider by the FSCA. The Map is not an IAFM financial product, financial service, or financial advice, and no advisory or intermediary relationship with IAFM arises from your use of the Map. Nedbank Limited is not acting as a financial services provider, advisor, arranger, or intermediary in respect of anything shown on the Map.
- Nothing on the Map should be treated as an offer, solicitation, or invitation to invest in, lend to, buy from, sell to, or otherwise transact with any organisation shown. You must do your own research and take your own professional advice before acting.
- Deals shown on the "Deals Dashboard" are drawn from public disclosures, partner reports, and voluntary submissions. Values, dates, and instrument types are best-effort and may be rounded or approximate.
- The Map is provided "as is" and "as available". No Protected Party warrants that the Map, or any information on it, is complete, accurate, current, fit for a particular purpose, non-infringing, or continuously available.
2.4 Your account and any content you submit
- You are responsible for what you submit and for keeping your login details, if any, secure.
- You confirm that the information you submit is true, that you are allowed to share it, and that publishing it will not breach anyone’s rights (including intellectual property, confidentiality, or privacy).
- You grant Impact Amplifier and the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, display, adapt for formatting, and share the information you submit for the purpose of running the Map and the Nedbank ReNEW Programme, including sub-licensing to Nedbank, the Nedbank Foundation, and Circular South Africa (CSA) for their programme reporting and communications. This licence ends when you remove the information from the Map, except that (a) aggregated and anonymised statistics that no longer identify you may continue to be used, and (b) copies retained in back-ups, archives, or programme reports already produced may continue to be held for the periods set out in the Group Privacy Notice.
- You keep ownership of your logo, brand, and underlying business information. We only use them to represent your organisation on the Map and in related programme communications.
- You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each of the Protected Parties harmless from and against any claim, demand, loss, damage, fine, penalty, or cost (including reasonable legal costs on an attorney-and-own-client basis) arising out of, or in connection with: (i) information you submit to, or publish on, the Map that is false, misleading, unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, or that infringes another person’s rights (including intellectual property, confidentiality, publicity, or privacy rights); (ii) your breach of these terms, the Group Terms of Use, or the Group Privacy Notice; or (iii) your use of the Map in breach of any applicable law. This indemnity is in addition to, and does not limit, the indemnity in clause 11.9 of the Group Terms of Use.
2.5 Links to third-party sites and services
The Map links to venture, investor, and intermediary websites, and to third-party tools (for example map, video, and form providers). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, security, or privacy practices. Third-party services on the Map are subject to clause 7 of the Group Terms of Use.
2.6 Liability, changes, suspension, and law
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, no Protected Party is liable to you or any third party for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive loss or damage (including loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, opportunity, data, or anticipated savings) arising out of, or in connection with, your access to, use of, or reliance on the Map, or the acts or omissions of any organisation listed on the Map. Impact Amplifier’s overall liability in respect of the Map is further limited as set out in clause 11 of the Group Terms of Use, and the same limits apply, on the same terms, to each Protected Party.
- Nothing on the Map is professional, legal, tax, financial, or investment advice; take your own advice before acting.
- Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited under South African law, including for fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct.
- We may update the Map, change features, correct data, remove listings, or suspend access at any time, including where a listing is inaccurate, disputed, unlawful, or used to harm any Protected Party or any third party. No Protected Party is liable for any consequence of such an update, change, correction, removal, or suspension.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with disputes resolved as set out in clause 12 of the Group Terms of Use. Each Protected Party may enforce these terms directly against you where a breach affects it.
3. HOW WE RESEARCH AND UPDATE THE MAP
This clause explains the AI and research controls we apply to Map content, in addition to the Group Privacy Notice.
3.1 Sources we use, and sources we do not use
We only build Map entries from:
- information you submit through the Map forms;
- appropriate public sources (your website, CIPC and other official registers, news, press releases, conference and programme announcements, public LinkedIn company pages); and
- programme records shared by partners, consistent with the consent originally given.
We do not use paid personal-data brokers, leaked or hacked databases, closed communities, or private WhatsApp / email content to build Map entries.
3.2 AI as a helper, not a publisher
AI tools help our team find, structure, and cross-check information. They do not publish to the Map on their own. Every AI-generated field is reviewed by a person before it appears. Where a claim is uncertain or a source is thin, the item is sent to a human-review queue rather than published.
3.3 What AI is not allowed to infer
AI tools may not infer, guess, or auto-fill any of the following about a founder or contact person: ownership share, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, health status, age (beyond public disclosures), or nationality. If any of these fields are shown on the Map, they come from you directly, or from a clearly attributed public source.
3.4 Your right to claim, correct, or query your profile
If your organisation appears on the Map, you can:
- Claim the profile as your own via the "Update your info" form.
- Correct any field that is wrong, and lock specific fields (for example founder identity, stage, sector) so that later automated updates will not overwrite them.
- Query any entry and request evidence for how it was compiled.
- Ask us to remove all or part of the entry (see clause 4.8).
Once you have corrected or locked a field, our automated update process must respect that change. It may only be overwritten by a subsequent submission from you, or after we contact you and you agree in writing.
3.5 AI training and re-use
We do not use your submitted content to train external, third-party general-purpose AI models. We may use aggregated and de-identified Map data to improve our own internal research, matching, and quality-assurance tools. Where we use a third-party AI service to process Map content, we contract for that service on terms that prohibit the provider from using our data to train their public models.
4. PRIVACY NOTICE — MAP ADDENDUM
This clause adds Map-specific detail to the Group Privacy Notice. Read the two together.
4.1 Who the responsible party is
The Responsible Party for personal information on the Map is High Impact Accelerator (Pty) Ltd t/a Impact Amplifier, on behalf of the Impact Amplifier Group. Contact details for the Information Officer and Deputy Information Officer are in clause 4.11.
4.2 What personal information appears on the Map
Typical personal information shown includes: founder or key-contact name, role, business email, business phone number, LinkedIn URL, and business address. We do not publish home addresses, personal identity numbers, or bank details.
4.3 Where we get it from
We combine three sources, in line with clause 3:
- Direct submissions from you, through the "Submit your data" and "Update your info" forms.
- Appropriate public sources (your website, CIPC records, news, press releases, conference and programme announcements, LinkedIn company pages).
- Programme records from the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC, Nedbank ReNEW, Impact Amplifier accelerators, and partner organisations, where sharing is consistent with the original consent given.
Entries drawn only from public sources are marked as unverified until the organisation confirms them.
4.4 Why we process it (lawful basis under POPIA)
- Consent — where you submit information to be listed.
- Legitimate interest — to publish a public ecosystem directory that supports circular-economy entrepreneurship, provided your interests and rights do not outweigh ours.
- Public interest / performance of a public task — where the Map supports Nedbank ReNEW programme objectives publicly announced with our partners.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain records for reporting, audit, or compliance.
4.5 Marketing
We do not use Map contact details for unrelated marketing. If, on submission, you opt in to receive updates about the Nedbank ReNEW Programme or related Impact Amplifier programmes, we will only send you those specific communications, and every message will include an unsubscribe link. Withdrawing consent does not remove your organisation from the Map — for that, use clause 4.8.
4.6 Who we share it with
We share Map information with:
- the Impact Amplifier Foundation NPC, Nedbank, the Nedbank Foundation, and Circular South Africa (CSA), as programme partners;
- other Impact Amplifier Group entities;
- service providers who host the Map, send communications, or provide analytics, under written data-protection terms;
- other users of the Map, in the form of your public profile;
- authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell personal information.
4.7 Cross-border transfers
Some of our service providers are outside South Africa. We only use providers who offer an adequate level of protection under POPIA (through binding contracts, adequacy findings, or equivalent safeguards).
4.8 Your rights, and how to exercise them
You have the rights set out in section 5 of POPIA and in the Group Privacy Notice, including the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal information. For Map-specific requests:
- Use the "Update your info" form for corrections and field-locks.
- Email papy@impactamplifier.co.za (copy sandra@impactamplifier.co.za) for take-down requests, access requests, or complaints.
- We aim to acknowledge requests within 5 working days and to resolve them within 30 days.
4.9 Retention
Public profiles remain on the Map for as long as the organisation is active in the ecosystem. If we remove a profile, we may keep an internal, non-public record for audit and reporting purposes for the periods set out in the Group Privacy Notice, and use aggregated, anonymised statistics thereafter.
4.10 Security
The Map is hosted on infrastructure with commercially reasonable security controls, including transport encryption, access controls, and change logging. Submission forms are validated to prevent obvious injection and abuse.
4.11 Contact
- Information Officer: Papy Kambala — papy@impactamplifier.co.za
- Deputy Information Officer: Sandra Makuchete — sandra@impactamplifier.co.za
- You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg@justice.gov.za.
4.12 Automated decision-making and profiling
The Map does not make decisions that have a legal effect on you, or a similarly significant effect, solely by automated means. AI is used to suggest, structure, and cross-check content, but publication, correction, and removal decisions are made by a person. If we ever introduce a Map feature that would involve solely automated decision-making about you, we will update this notice, give you notice, and offer a route to request human review.
5. DATA CONTRIBUTION TERMS (FOR PEOPLE WHO SUBMIT OR UPDATE DATA)
5.1 Who can submit
You may submit an organisation to the Map if:
- the organisation is active in the South African circular economy (broadly defined, including waste, water, energy, food systems, materials, and related services);
- you are an authorised representative of that organisation, or you are a programme partner submitting on its behalf with its consent.
If you are submitting on someone else’s behalf, you must have their permission.
5.2 What you promise us
You warrant and represent to Impact Amplifier and, for their benefit, to each Protected Party, that:
- the information is true, current, and not misleading;
- you own it or have the right to share it, and to grant the licence in clause 2.4;
- publishing it will not breach any confidentiality, employment, funding, or investor agreement, or any law (including POPIA, the FAIS Act, the FIC Act, the CPA, or applicable competition or securities laws);
- the people you name (founders, contacts) know they will appear on a public map and have consented to the processing of their personal information for that purpose;
- logos, images, and copy you submit do not infringe anyone’s intellectual property, publicity, or privacy rights; and
- your submission does not contain malware, tracking code, or any content that is defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful.
A breach of any of these warranties triggers the indemnity in clause 2.4.
5.3 What we do with your submission
- We review it for fit with the circular economy scope and for basic accuracy.
- We may edit for length, house style, and clarity, without changing the meaning of what you told us.
- We may decline to publish, or remove, any entry that does not fit the scope, or that breaches these terms.
5.4 Field-locking and update control
Once your entry is live, you can lock specific fields via the "Update your info" form. Locked fields will not be changed by our automated research process. We will only propose a change to a locked field if we have a new source that contradicts it, and we will contact you first before making the change.
5.5 Opt-out and take-down
You may ask to have your organisation removed from the Map at any time. We will action valid take-down requests within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised statistics that no longer identify you may continue to appear.
5.6 No compensation
We do not pay for submissions, and submitting information does not create any employment, agency, joint-venture, or partnership relationship between you and Impact Amplifier or any programme partner.
5.7 Founders or contacts under 18
If a founder or contact you list is under 18, you confirm that their parent or legal guardian (a "competent person" under POPIA) has consented to their name, role, and business contact appearing on the Map. We may ask for evidence of that consent. If consent is withdrawn, we will remove the individual’s personal information from the Map within 30 days.
6. REPORTING A PROBLEM
- Wrong or out-of-date listing: use the "Update your info" form on the Map.
- Privacy question, data request, or take-down: papy@impactamplifier.co.za (copy sandra@impactamplifier.co.za).
- Misuse of Map data (spam, scraping, misrepresentation): info@impactamplifier.co.za.
- Programme questions (Nedbank ReNEW): use the Contact page on the ReNEW site.
We aim to acknowledge your message within 5 working days and to resolve substantive requests within 30 days.
7. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms as the Map grows. Material changes will be flagged on this notice and, where appropriate, communicated to listed organisations by email. The "Effective date" and "Version" at the top always show the current version.
