What is the Nedbank ReNEW programme?
ReNEW is a circular economy accelerator that supports youth-led and youth-focused businesses addressing unemployment and environmental degradation. It is managed by Impact Amplifier and funded by the Nedbank Foundation, in alignment with the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation's Circular Economy Strategy and in partnership with Circular South Africa.
Who can apply?
Post-revenue ventures in any circular economy sector that can demonstrate commercial potential. At least one founder/CEO must be full-time, and the business must be at least 51% South African owned. Women-led and youth-led businesses are particularly encouraged to apply.
How much funding is available?
Selected ventures can access funding of between R100 000 and R1 000 000, deployed in milestone-driven tranches over 6–12 months.
What support is offered beyond funding?
A 12-month acceleration programme delivered on the Impact-OS platform — combining self-study modules, masterclasses and mentorship — plus practical business support from Nedbank, including banking services, insurance and SME tools. Prioritised ventures receive intensive one-on-one strategic advisory.
Are applications open?
No — applications for the current cohort closed on Thursday, 23 October 2025. The cohort is now in its acceleration and funding phase. Sign up for updates or join the WhatsApp community to be notified about future intakes.
How is the funding disbursed?
Impact Amplifier manages an internal Investment Committee process, drafting grant agreements and overseeing a three-tranche disbursement of funding tied to agreed milestones.
What kinds of businesses does the programme prioritise?
Businesses with strong waste management solutions — recycling, reuse, upcycling and waste-to-product models — that are asset-light and able to operate profitably in low-income communities. Gender equity, climate resilience and sustainable ownership are central to selection and support.
Who is behind the programme?
Impact Amplifier is a leading accelerator and funder with a strong track record in accelerating social enterprises across Africa, and serves as the lead implementer. The Nedbank Foundation is the main funder and plays a strategic role in governance, promotion and showcasing the innovations.
